Would you like to come in close contact with the untamed wild flow of the Soca river?
A delightful swimming experience of navigating the river is, therefore, a definite choice. With swim fins, you will navigate your hydrospeed downstream under the watchful care and direction of your guide. Hydrospeed Slovenia adventure will take you about an hour and a half in the Soca river currents and the entire expedition in total will last around 3 h.
Go with the flow!
Everyone in the eddy! Hydrospeed, locally known as river bob, is ideal for those who desire an unforgettable experience of close contact with wild water and a far more intense encounter than you would have in any other whitewater activities on the menu.
You will steer your hydrospeed through the use of swim fins as you conquer the waves, currents, eddies and rapids, as the river carries your downstream. Thick neoprene and the energy you will be expending will quickly warm you, so there’s no need to fear the icy water. Our guide who will accompany you in a kayak throughout the entire trip will care for your safety as well as your enjoyment. Explore the currents in a 1,5h adventure on whitewater. In total, the trip will require 3h of your time.
How difficult is hydrospeed?
We can measure difficulty in two ways. One way is how physically challenging it is, and the other, how technical and adventurous it is. All of our trips are guided, which means a highly qualified, licensed guide escorts you in a kayak and gives directions and safety instructions.
Hydrospeed is one of the most challenging among the activities and it’s necessary for guests to be healthy and in very good general physical condition.
As for the adrenaline part – we measure rivers with grades that reach up to class VI. The commercial part that we do hydrospeed on, has the most challenging section which reaches class IV.
We start with easier rapids, but we as well visit the most technical part of our hydrospeed Soca route. The section we do hydrospeed on is the same as the commercial rafting section so it’s taking part in the most exciting section of the river. To conclude, hydrospeed is one of the most demanding activities on the menu and it’s appropriate for a narrower selection of guests.
Minimum participants and group dynamics
The minimum number of guests: 2,
- because hydrospeed is a very demanding activity we keep the groups exceptionally small,
- maximum number is 4 guests per one guide.
If you are alone, don’t worry, we will join you in a group. Couples – it’s more likely you will join a trip with more adventurers. If you are a very active family or a group of friends, you might also have a guide to yourselves.
If you are in doubt or worried, how would you fit in, contact us without hesitation and we will customize your trip in a way that everyone will leave our doors pleased.
What about our youngest?
Hydrospeed is not appropriate for kids under the age of 16.
Exhilarating Hydrospeed Slovenia – Program
We meet in the SportMIX agency where you will be warmly greeted by our office staff. At the front desk, you will be asked to sign a waiver form and you will be acquainted with your guide.
The guide will give you all of the necessary equipment. We don’t put the equipment on at the agency, but we will collect everything in a pack and we will change at the starting point next to the river.
You can leave your valuables in the lockers in the office. We recommend you leave only valuables such as wallets, jewellery and personal documents. Dry clothes, underwear and towels you can take with you and leave them in the van with our driver. We advise wearing your bathing suit already under your clothes when you come to the office.
Together with the guide you follow the driver and sit in the van.
You drive to the starting point (approximately 10 min drive).
At the starting point, we change into our gear, leave the dry clothes with our driver and start the trip with our guide.
Before you start your descent, the guide provides safety information and you start your adventure.
We start our trip on a calmer section of the river, where we first practice the basic hydrospeed paddle technique and we continue our descent as well on rapids class I-VI.
At the end of the trip, our driver will be already waiting for us, where we will change back into our dry clothes and board the van to drive back to SportMIX agency in Bovec city centre (approximately 20 min drive).
In the office, we will check out the pictures taken by our drivers and the guide, arrange the formalities and exchange farewells until next time.

Water level
Hydrospeed on Soca is one of the activities that require perfect water level conditions. In springtime and autumn time it often happens, that the water level might be too high for hydrospeeding. In high water levels, the currents are stronger and faster, which can, in fact, be dangerous. On the other hand, peak season usually has low water levels which can be an inconvenience as well. If the water level is too low the ride can be too bumpy, many rocks are exposed, which are easier to hit since our entire body is in the water. For hydrospeed, the water conditions have to be suitable. Send us an enquiry and we will analyse the current water conditions and advise you on the activities of choice.
Booking in advance is necessary – particularly in the peak season (21.6. – 20.9.).
