Family rafting Sportmix Bovec

Family rafting

A playful adventure for families with young rafting enthusiasts.
  • Bathing suit,
  • towel,
  • dry underwear to change,
  • rash guard, synthetic long or short sleeved swimwear, to provide extra warmth for the kids that tend to get cold faster (optional),
  • we recommend packing a snack and a drink in your backpack for after the rafting (water tends to make us hungry),
  • sunscreen.

We provide all the necessary equipment for you and of course as well for your little ones. We give all adventurers all the necessary rafting equipment (helmet, neoprene suit, anorak, life vest, neoprene shoes). For smaller kids, we also have various smaller sizes of the equipment and for the rafters that tend to get colder faster, we can also provide additional layers. Our trips are guided, which means a professional, experienced, licenced guide, takes you on your whitewater quest. As previously mentioned our guides are not just specialised in wild rivers but they are also enthusiastic animators, that will entertain and encourage the little rafters, of course in a controlled and safe environment. And as the grand adventure concludes transportation to the starting point and back to our agency is also provided.

At the end of each of our trips, we gift you with free photography as a sign of gratitude that you chose us to guide you on your whitewater adventure.

Our season starts on the 15.3. when the Soca river officially opens for commercial purposes and finishes on 31.10.

In peak season 21.6. – 20.9. family rafting on Soca is available every day at:

  • 8:30,
  • 12:00,
  • 16:00.

During the low season you can choose between:

  • 9:00,
  • 12:00.

The best time for family rafting depends also on the season of your arrival. When we have smaller kids on our trips, especially in the low season, we tend to recommend to chose the time of the day when it’s the warmest. Especially if the kids like to spend lots of time in the water. As well we should add that the spring and autumn water levels are normally higher, so we always choose the timing and the section that is appropriate for the youngest participants. In peak season we normally have lower water levels, that are suitable for kids and the river doesn’t vary much on the day and time of your arrival, but we recommend either morning or late afternoon slots, to avoid the summer heat. If you are in doubt of which time is the most suitable for you, send us an enquiry and we can make a suitable decision together.

If you are arriving in Bovec Slovenia the same day as your scheduled rafting or you have other activities on your schedule that requires planning, our meeting times in our agency are:

High season:

  • 8:20,
  • 11:30,
  • 15:45.

Low season:

  • 8:45,
  • 11:45.

In low season we can sometimes be more flexible and adapt timings based on your needs. When you enquire about your reservation you can let us know your wishes and we will see if we can make a personalized schedule for you.

We recommend booking in advance – particularly in the peak season (21.6. – 20.9.).

Family Rafting Bovec

The name of the trip itself tells us that this rafting trip is dedicated to spending some quality time as a family. And not just as any family, but the ones, that are proud to have little brave rafters who just turned 5 or a year or two more. The family rafting trip is adapted especially to those families with smaller kids who are not yet advised to join the classic rafting section. Often we meet little rafting enthusiasts, who just need a little extra spinach before they can hit the most challenging part of the river. Therefore our guides carefully choose a section that is appropriate for them to fully enjoy the whitewater adventure but with some more flat sections of the river and easy class I rapids. This program normally takes part in the section Čezsoča – Boka / Srpenica 1, which extends in 6 kilometres.

Our staff and guides are not just specialised whitewater admirers but also experienced and enthusiastic animators who know exactly how our little adventurers should experience whitewater. We will spend 1,5h on the river playing various games and listening to incredible historical stories. Some say, there is even a dragon living in the little Boka cave, which is located just right of the Boka waterfall which we will also pass on our adventure. Together our adventure will take us approximately 3 hours.

  • Minimum participants: 2,
  • maximum rafters on one boat: 8 plus the guide,
  • normally larger families with smaller kids have the boat and the guide exclusively for them,
  • sometimes it happens that we can combine 2 families of rafters or we combine families based on the age of the kids and the number of the family members which makes it a perfect way to meet fellow rafters and make friends with guests from all over the world.

How difficult is family rafting?

All of our trips are guided, which means a highly qualified, licensed guide guides your raft and gives directions and safety instructions. Family rafting is the easiest among the activities, but we require our adventurers to be healthy. If any of our participants have any medical issues that require attention, you can without hesitation inform our staff and the guides. In classic rafting programs swimming knowledge is mandatory, but since family rafting is appropriate for kids from the age of 5, their swimming knowledge can be as much as basic floating and feet kicking

We visit the easiest part of the river that classifies in grade I-II (VI is the highest). The family rafting trip is adapted especially to families with smaller kids who are not yet advised to join the classic rafting section. Often we meet little rafting enthusiasts, who just need a little extra time before they can hit the most challenging part of the river and the family rafting is a fantastic introduction to the world of whitewater sports.
