Predelica begins its journey below the Predel pass and ends at the mouth of the river Koritnica near Log pod Mangartom. Predelica Gorge is one of the longer gorges in the vicinity of Bovec.
At about a third of the length of the canyon, an easy way out is offered, therefore the length and difficulty of the descent can be adjusted to your wishes and abilities.
We can do the descent through Upper Predelica, Lower Predelica or completely.
How difficult is canyoning Predelica?
Upper Predelica is comparable in difficulty to Fratarica. Easy up to 4 meters high jumps and five various rope descents await you. The highest is the descent over the famous Betrothed waterfall. With it, Upper Predelica ends. Following the trail, you will climb back to the vehicle.
Lower Predelica is longer and more demanding. Its characteristic is – most of the descent is surrounded by steep slopes and walls, which make it impossible to easily escape from the gorge. There are many rope descents and jumps. The originality of the environment and the feeling of smallness in front of the mighty creations of nature will forever remain in your memory. If you opt for Lower Predelica, previous experience with canyoning or abseiling is desirable.
If you are physically very well prepared and walking more than half a day on difficult terrain does not cause you problems, you can also opt for the entire Predelica. For this challenge, you urgently need previous experience in canyoning or abseiling.
To all of the Predelica sections, you have a 20-30 min hike on an alpine path to reach the starting point of the canyon itself. As for the difficulty – the upper Predelica is considered as a difficult canyon and the lower Predelica is very demanding. The entire canyon is the most demanding and due to the length, it requires good endurance and necessarily experience with canyoning or at least by descending the rope.
