Sports climbing Soca Valley – Program
We will climb at one of the climbing areas around Bovec. Based on weather conditions, your desires and physical capabilities, the instructor will determine the most suitable climbing location.
Upon arrival at the climbing area, the instructor will give an outline of the day, introduce you to climbing gear, and explain the basics of climbing and the important rules of climbing safety.
The next step is a general aerobic warm-up followed by stretching and warm-up of specific muscle groups most critical in climbing. Warm-up and stretching are quite critical to prevent injury due to overexertion. After you are sufficiently prepared, then your adventure begins in earnest.
The instructor will demonstrate how to properly put on your climbing gear. He will then show you how to climb and how to provide protection for your fellow climbers by belaying them.
Now it’s your turn to climb. You will be protected by a technique referred to as “top rope,” a rope secured at the top of the route. With this method of protection, you will be secured against a long fall. Initially, the instructor will provide protection by belaying you with a rope, then as you progress you will belay one another, always under the watchful eye of your instructor.
Your instructor will be offering input, guarding against mistakes, and providing continual instruction as you climb.
Often we have noticed that many visitors set their minds on routes and conquests that are beyond the abilities of their untrained fingers. Therefore, we are always careful to help our guests not overextend themselves and subsequently experience unnecessary injury.
